Education:
I attended Illinois State University, as a Theater Education major and English Education minor. While teaching ended up not being the right calling for me, I’m still an enthusiastic audience member.

Daily work responsibilities:
Facilitate the credentialing verification process for our physicians so it goes as smoothly as possible. We also run internal verifications, so we know that we’re putting the highest caliber of physician to work.

What I like most about my job:
I love working with our doctors on a daily basis.

Most satisfying professional accomplishment:
Every time a doctor completes credentialing at facility and is approved to go to work, I feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment.

What I like most about working at Interim Physicians:
I like the company’s focus on customer service as a way of differentiating ourselves. I think great customer service is an exceptional bonus that we offer, and I enjoy being able to go above and beyond expectations.

My family:
Our home consists of me, my husband, my two beautiful step-children, two extremely spoiled cats and an assortment of turtles.

Favorite game:
I enjoy Monopoly, even when it gets a little violent.

Favorite movies/actors:
I’m a geek, so I love anything sci-fi and fantasy.

Favorite book or author:
Neil Gaiman is my favorite author. I’m also a sucker for Shakespeare.

I’m a fan of:
I enjoy basketball at all levels: from cheering on my stepdaughter on her high school team, to college and pro. Sadly, I have no skills, personally.

Favorite vacation destination:
I have family in Southwestern Colorado, and I’ve always loved the mountains there.

Favorite time of the year:
I’m a big Halloween fan because I enjoy crafts, so I like making costumes for the kids and decorating the house. Plus the candy doesn’t hurt!

My hidden talent:
Even though I’m not terribly coordinated, I really love yoga.

Favorite type of food:
Pasta. Any kind, any sauce. Homemade is better, but store-bought is OK, too!

Dr. Ken Teufel, M.D.Medical Director

Dr. Kenneth Teufel has over 30 years of experience in the locum tenens field.

After several years in private practice, Dr. Teufel founded Physicians Relief Network to address the need for physicians in underserved rural areas of Texas. Since then, Dr. Teufel has continued to work with Interim Physicians in the areas of risk management, quality assurance and physician-client relations.

In 1978, Dr. Teufel took a leave of absence from his private medical practice to work at the Ban Nam Yao refugee camp in Thailand. It was here that he became acutely aware of the relationship between poverty, culture, and health disparities. In 1999, he obtained a Master of Arts degree in intercultural relations from Antioch University and the Intercultural Communication Institute. In 1999, Dr. Teufel also introduced the undergraduate course in health communication at Texas State University, where he taught the course until 2007.

Recruiting Director
Jackie ByrdRecruiting Director

Office:
Huntsville, AL

How to contact:
E-mail: jackie.byrd@interimphysicians.com
Phone: 256-382-4362

Education:
I attended William Carey College in Hattiesburg, MS.

Background and experience:
I have worked in the locums and staffing industry since 1997. Beginning with a role in credentialing and later moving into licensure allowed me to work with some of the most talented and creative people in the industry. Having worked for several years now on the sales and staffing side of the business, I have an excellent overview of the industry as a whole. I am as excited about the opportunity to work in this industry as I was when I started years ago.

Daily work responsibilities:
I am a career consultant and coach. I schedule my time between phone calls, prospecting, timesheets, problem solving, counseling and whatever else might come up during the day. In short I help manage the business side of this industry so that you can practice medicine!

What I like most about my job:
I love building relationships! I like finding the right opportunity and “fit” for you. This business isn’t just a “transaction”. I am here to work for our candidates. I want to be involved in this business for many more years. Perhaps the most enjoyable thing about my job is obtaining referrals from you. I know that when you refer someone to me I have built a successful relationship with you and that you trust me. If you are happy passing my name to one of your colleagues I know that I have done my job the RIGHT way.

Most satisfying professional accomplishment:
I am proud of the longevity and integrity I have in this industry. The commitment we have to transparency and integrity are clear to all who work with us.

What I like most about working at Interim Physicians:
I am working with people I can trust – that says a lot. I trust that the people here will continue to take care of the physicians I work with. Additionally it’s nice to know that we are all true professionals. We do everything we can to make sure that our clients and physicians are happy with the service they receive.

My family:
I have two girls who are 28 and 29. I am engaged to a wonderful man. My oldest daughter works for Walt Disney World in Florida (which makes for a great vacation). My youngest works at LG here in Huntsville.

Pets:
I have a pet Yorkie named Pixie. Had I known that some describe Yorkie’s as “Tasmanian Devils on crack and No-Doz” I might have thought twice about a Yorkie.

My personality can be described as:
I have a “type A personality,” am outgoing, funny, and very competitive. I have also been described as a very caring person.

Hobbies:
I LOVE JET SKIING. I eat, sleep, and talk jet skiing. I love the water, I love the speed, I love the excitement of pushing it to the limit, not to mention the tan! Now for my secondary hobbie, hmmm… jet skiing.

I’m a fan of:
I am a huge fan of the New Orleans Saints. Need I remind everyone that they did win the Super Bowl? I grew up in Houma, Louisiana, and have been a Saints fan since I was a little girl. I am a true Saints fan through thick and thin. Even through the paper-bag period (Saints fans will know what I mean).

Favorite vacation destination:
Walt Disney World would be my favorite vacation destination. This is partially influenced by the fact that I have a daughter that works there. Not only do I get a chance to see her but I can take a mini vacation at the same time.

Favorite time of the year:
My favorite holiday is any holiday that I can have with the entire family together at the same time. If you are a parent you understand how difficult it can be when you have one child home and others away. There just isn’t a substitute for having the entire family together around the table.

My role model:
I admire my parents for two reasons. One because they raised me the way they did – and I turned out well! My parents raised me to be the best I can be – regardless of what I do. They gave me unconditional love and have always been there for me.

My hidden talent:
I love country line dancing. At last count I know over 400 different line dances. I bought my first pair of Wranglers after the second lesson, my first pair of boots after the third and continued to reward myself by purchasing articles of clothing periodically after lessons. I took lessons every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night for over 8 years. I eventually taught classes when I wasn’t taking them. Hit me up at a convention and I will give you a free lesson!

My whole family is from Texas so I love getting to travel around the state to see everyone! I have a 1.5 year old German Shepherd/Malamute named Mia, and a 2 year old cat named Dobby.

Hobbies:
I love to read! It doesn’t matter if it is fiction or non-fiction. If you give it to me, I will read it. I also love spending time outside with my dog, as well as going swing-dancing! My brother was introduced to swing-dancing when he began college and he started teaching me when I was 16. I don’t get to go as often now, but I still love it!

My favorite website:
I probably spend the majority of my time on Facebook and Business Insider, although online shopping is certainly a favorite pastime!

Favorite TV series:
I really like The Walking Dead, Big Bang Theory, and American Horror Story

I’m a fan of:
TCU Football!!!

Favorite time of the year:
That VERY short time of year in Texas that is in between Summer and Winter. We don’t really have an Autumn, just a less severe week or two when the weather is absolutely lovely. This typically falls around October/November, but with Texas weather you never know!

Ideal evening:
Reading a good book and drinking a glass of wine on my patio. Follow this with an episode of one of my favorite shows and some chocolate, and I will be very happy =)
